This Privacy Policy describes how Tarmac ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Tarmac mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Tarmac collects precise GPS location data while you are actively recording a drive. Specifically:

We store your recorded GPS route (as a series of coordinates) and the locations of any stops you make during the drive. This data is associated with your account and visible to other users when you publish a drive.

You can prevent location collection at any time by revoking location permissions in your device Settings. Note that background GPS is required for drive recording to function.

Residents of the EU/EEA (GDPR): Our lawful basis for processing your data is the performance of a contract (providing the service you signed up for) and legitimate interests (preventing abuse and improving the service). You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Residents of California (CCPA): We do not sell your personal information. You have the right to know what data we collect and to request deletion.

Residents of Australia (Privacy Act 1988): You have the right to access and correct personal information we hold about you, and to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au if you believe your privacy rights have been breached.

Residents of South Africa (POPIA): You have the right to access, correct, and request deletion of your personal information. You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator at justice.gov.za/inforeg.


7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it immediately. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take it seriously.


9. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored and processed in the United States via Supabase's infrastructure (AWS us-east-1). By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document and, where appropriate, by sending a notification through the App. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
